NATO: Summary of the 75th Anniversary Washington Summit

“At this Summit, we are turning a corner and putting in place the foundations for Ukraine to prevail. Allies have agreed to launch NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine with a command in Germany, logistic hubs in the eastern part of the Alliance, and around 700 personnel. Swedish Government presents largest to date military support package to Ukraine

The Swedish Government presented its 15th and largest military support package to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022. Package 15 amounts to SEK 7.1 billion in current prices. It comprises a maritime initiative that includes Combat Boat 90s, small and fast motorboats (G-boats) and underwater weapons. The package also includes artillery ammunition, an anti-aircraft system, light anti-tank weapons, recoilless rifles, hand grenades, medical equipment, medical transport vehicles, food, and financial support to bilateral and multilateral projects or funds. It also involves financial support to enable Ukraine to purchase more Combat Vehicle 90s.

Displaced people from Ukraine may have their residence permit for Norway extended by a further year

The Government is continuing the scheme of temporary collective protection for displaced people from Ukraine, and people who have had such a permit for two years can now be granted an extension of their permit for a third year. However, people who no longer belong to the categories covered by the scheme will not be entitled to an extension. This applies, among other things, to Ukrainians with multiple citizenships, when one of the citizenships is in a safe country.

EU Commission VP Šuica in Poland to discuss child protection measures

Yesterday, Vice-President Dubravka Šuica travelled to Poland for a series of meetings, including with the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Dziemianowicz-Bąk, high-level representatives from the Polish Ministries for Justice, Interior and Foreign Affairs, Ukrainian Federal and Odesa oblast authorities, representatives of the United States Embassies in Poland, and the UNICEF Deputy Regional Director. The aim of this mission was to unblock all political obstacles related to the relocation of the remaining 309 Ukrainian children from Hotel Ossa in Poland, as well as to facilitate additional child protection measures, access to education, healthcare, psycho-social support for the evacuated groups of children from Ukrainian institutions hosted in Poland.

LockBit: Eurojust and Europol supports global operation disrupting ransomware group

In a coordinated action supported by Eurojust and Europol, judicial and law enforcement authorities from 10 different countries have severely disrupted LockBit, the world’s most active ransomware operation. Two members of the ransomware team have been arrested in Poland and Ukraine. In addition, law enforcement has compromised LockBit’s primary platform and other enabling infrastructure. This includes the takedown of 34 servers in the Netherlands, Germany, Finland, France, Switzerland, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Russia: Meeting of the Government Coordination Council on the needs of the Russian Armed Forces

We will now allocate an 18 billion-plus rouble grant to help our service personnel and their families address various situations in life. First of all, this implies the purchase of medical items and technical rehabilitation systems for those discharged from military service, as well as restoring documents, training and retraining programmes, as well as job placement. The President recently discussed these issues at a meeting with our service personnel.

The Netherlands to co-host international conference ‘Restoring Justice for Ukraine’

On 2 April 2024, the Netherlands, Ukraine and the European Commission will co-host the international conference ‘Restoring Justice for Ukraine’ at the World Forum in The Hague. Foreign ministers and justice ministers from countries involved in the fight for justice for Ukraine since the start of the conflict will be able to voice their support for long-term efforts to tackle impunity and compensate victims.
