President von der Leyen travels to Manila to take EU-Philippines partnership forward

Next Monday 31 July, President Ursula von der Leyen will be in Manila, in the Philippines, where she will meet President Ferdinand Marcos with the aim of moving forward the partnership between the European Union and the Philippines. The two Presidents will discuss several matters of common interest such as trade, security, and the green and digital transitions.

EU at UNGA 78: EU delegation to mobilise global action and reignite solidarity

A high-level delegation of the European Commission will attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly next week in New York. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell, Vice-President Dubravka Šuica, and Commissioners Ylva Johansson, Janez Lenarčič, Jutta Urpilainen and Virginijus Sinkevičius will host and participate in events and meetings with leaders from around the world and hold several high-level bilateral meetings throughout the week.

Meeting of the EU-Russia and Central Asia Follow up Committee

The EU-Russia and Central Asia Follow-up Committee will meet to discuss the current situation of civil society in Russia. Two independent reports, respectively on freedom of speech and on disinformation, will be presented by a human rights-defending organisation, and there will be a general update by the Russia Division within the EEAS.

EU, France and Germany announce International Humanitarian Conference to support Sudan

Today, Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič will deliver opening remarks at a Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) held in Brussels in preparation of the ‘International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and its Neighbours', scheduled to take place in Paris on 15 April 2024, marking one year since the outbreak of the conflict that has generated the largest displacement crisis worldwide.

Roundtable on EU markets for commercial paper and certificates of deposit
