EU Commissioner Ivanova visits China and Japan to strengthen cooperation on education, culture and sport

Today, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Iliana Ivanova, will commence a 3-day visit to Beijing for the next edition of the EU-China High-Level People-to-People Dialogue.

This 6^th edition of the High-Level People-to-People Dialogue will focus on “working together for a greener and more sustainable future” in the fields of education, gender, youth, sport and culture. This comes after the 24^th EU-China Summit in December 2023 where the leaders agreed to relaunch the Dialogue.

The European Union and China launched the Dialogue in 2012. This initiative allows the exchanging of ideas and good practice on how the EU and China can work together and consolidates intercultural understanding through joint initiatives in the field of people-to-people exchanges.

Next week, Commissioner Ivanova will visit Tokyo from 1 to 4 of April. She will attend this year’s edition of the EU-Japan Policy Dialogue in the field of education, culture, and sport. Since the launch of this dialogue in 2018 two meetings have been held, one in 2018 in Budapest, hosted by the EU, and one in 2021, held online and hosted by Japan. This 3rd edition of the dialogue will take place on 3 April and will cover themes such as digital education, mobility in higher education, as well as exchange of policy practices in culture and sport. A series of meetings and events will be organised on the occasion of the visit, including Commissioner Ivanova‘s participation to an EU-Japan high-level event on advanced materials, in the area of research and innovation.
