Commissioner Várhelyi visits Ankara to discuss cooperation with Türkiye

On 6-7 September 2023, the Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi will travel to Ankara to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation with Türkiye. This is the first official visit paid by an EU representative to the country following the Presidential elections in May this year.

EU Commissioner Simson participates in the first High-Level Electricity Grids Forum

Brussels , Belgium

The forum aims to accelerate the development of electricity grids across the EU, by bringing together high-level industry leaders, policymakers and innovators. To fulfil our REPowerEU Plan to end our imports of Russian fossil fuels, and the recently agreed ambition to reach a 45% renewable energy share by 2030, we need upgraded grids and strengthened energy infrastructure. This is key to delivering the European Green Deal.

EU HRVP Josep Borrell travels to Georgia

During the visit, the High Representative will be received by Salome Zourabichvili, President of Georgia, on Friday afternoon. The HR/VP will also meet the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili. Following the meeting with the Prime Minister, a joint press conference will be held at +/- 12:00 local time (10:00 CEST) on Friday and broadcast live on Ebs.

EU Commission Executive VP  Dombrovskis travels to Lithuania for the European Semester

Vilnius , Lithuania

Executive Vice-President and Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis, will be in Vilnius today and Friday as part of Member State visits under the European Semester. He will meet the chairman of the Bank of Lithuania, Gediminas Šimkus; the Prime Minister, Ingrida Šimonytė, and the Finance Minister, Gintarė Skaistė. The key themes will be Ukraine, China, Rail Baltica and the state of play in Lithuania's Recovery and Resilience Plan.

EU Commissioner Sinkevičius on official visit to Bulgaria to discuss European Green Deal topics

Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevičius will be in Sofia tomorrow where he will meet Nikolai Denkov, Prime Minister of Bulgaria; Julian Popov, Minister for Environment and Water; and Kiril Vatev, Minister of Agriculture and Food, as well as representatives of green NGOs and civil society. The discussions will cover a range of topics including nature conservation, air quality, waste management, wastewater treatment, fisheries, as well as maritime security and environmental impacts of Russia's war on Ukraine.
