EU Code Week 2023 promotes digital skills among young people

The EU Code Week kicks off on Saturday 7 October this year. Then on Monday 9 October from 16:00-18:00 there will be a livestreamed event with speakers from the education and advanced digital skills domain who will share their insights into the importance of coding, and connect live with schools showcasing remarkable coding education actions. The aim of the Code Week initiative is to encourage young people take up coding and pursue a career in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

EU Commissioner Simson to discuss electricity market in Luxembourg tomorrow

Ministers will continue their work towards a General Approach on the Commission's proposals to reform the EU electricity market. This reform aims to make electricity prices less dependent on volatile fossil fuel prices and to shield consumers from price spikes by accelerating a surge in renewables.

EU Commissioner Hoekstra travels to Brazil for COP28 preparations

Tomorrow, Commissioner for Climate Action, Wopke Hoekstra, starts a two-day visit to Brazil to continue with preparations for the forthcoming COP28 UN Climate Change conference. Following the adoption of the EU's negotiating mandate to COP28 in the Environment Council on 16 October, Commissioner Hoekstra will engage with Brazil on the need for high ambition at COP28, as well as looking towards Brazil's upcoming G20 Presidency.

EU Commissioner Schmit kicks-off European Vocational Skills Week

The event will gather representatives of the Commission, the Spanish Government for the Presidency, social partners, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the International Labour Organization, as well as other parties interested in vocational education and training (VET).
