President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida.
The Head of State expressed gratitude for comprehensive assistance from Japan, particularly for supporting the Ukrainian Peace Formula. The President spoke about the next round of consultations at the level of national security advisors, preparation of the Global Peace Summit and invited Japan to participate in these important events.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the G7 Joint Declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine, adopted during the Japanese G7 Presidency.
“It is time to conclude relevant bilateral agreements in the framework of this declaration. We are ready to start this negotiation process with Japan as soon as possible,” the Head of State noted.
The President also informed his interlocutor about the efforts made by Ukraine to extend the “grain corridor” in the Black Sea, in particular by creating alternative routes.
“Russia continues to use food as a weapon. It destroys our port infrastructure and grain storage facilities with missile attacks. It kills civilians every day. But even in these difficult conditions, Ukraine is ready to remain a guarantor of global food security,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The leaders also discussed preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference scheduled to take place in Japan early next year.
The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Japan coordinated their steps on the eve of important international legal events.
