Tomorrow, Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research, and Innovation will visit Sofia for high-level meetings with Bulgarian leaders.
In line with the Commission’s ambition to put research and innovation at the centre of the EU’s economy, Commissioner Zaharieva will meet with President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev, Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev, and Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova.
The discussions will focus on the EU’s research and innovation initiatives. This includes measures to boost competitiveness, enhance education and skills development, and promote high-quality research opportunities. The talks will also explore ways to support Bulgaria’s innovation ecosystem, including its startup sector and research capabilities.
Increased investment, cooperation, and a focus on the most important and disruptive innovations will be key to driving the EU’s competitiveness, security, and sustainability.
