Warsaw, 13 February 2025

Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai at the Google for Startups Campus in the Praga Koneser Center in Warsaw. As a result of the memorandum of cooperation signed between the state-owned Polish Development Fund and Google, the company will make billion-dollar investments in Poland, contributing to an 8% increase in the country’s GDP. Google has been expanding and investing in Poland for 20 years and has supported Polish entrepreneurs for the last 10 years.

Poland’s Cooperation with Google

The meeting took place at the Google for Startups Campus, located in the Praga Koneser Center.

In 2014, then-Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with Google’s executive director at the time. Their discussions focused on the launch of Google for Startups in Warsaw—a space for Polish tech startups—which opened a year later.

“When I invited Google to collaborate with Poland 11 years ago, I never imagined that our partnership would reach such an impressive conclusion,” said the Prime Minister.

For the past decade, Google has supported new Polish entrepreneurs in launching their businesses, providing access to innovative tools to ensure equal market opportunities.

“The Prime Minister remembers 2014—since then, we have helped thousands of businesses grow, and over 100,000 Polish enterprises have received our support,” said Sundar Pichai during a joint statement.

Startups play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions in cybersecurity, healthcare, and education. They leverage technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, to best meet market needs.

Google’s Investments in Poland

The development of digitalization and technology, particularly artificial intelligence, is critical for economic growth. For this reason, the Polish Development Fund signed a memorandum of cooperation with Google to implement AI solutions in Polish institutions and businesses.

“I am grateful for the signing of this memorandum between Google and the Polish Development Fund. We are creating a framework that will also allow for greater Google investment in Poland,” said the Prime Minister following his meeting with the Google and Alphabet CEO.

Google will also take part in a digital skills training program for Polish citizens.

“Google has committed to educational initiatives and will train one million Poles in modern tools—mainly artificial intelligence. […] This is great news for millions of young Poles. It will significantly enhance their investment opportunities and security,” emphasized Donald Tusk at the Google for Startups Campus in Warsaw.

Discussions also covered cooperation in artificial intelligence, energy, and cybersecurity.

“We talked about the enormous opportunities for Poland in artificial intelligence. Leadership, ambition, and talent are giving Poland a new position in European innovation. Poland is currently the largest engineering hub, with over 2,000 employees. Google has been building Poland’s tech ecosystem for more than 20 years,” said the CEO of Google and Alphabet.

The measures outlined in the memorandum will enhance Poland’s cybersecurity and support its energy transformation. Google estimates that this partnership will contribute to an 8% increase in Poland’s GDP.

The Development of Artificial Intelligence

Poland has immense potential in the creation, development, and implementation of artificial intelligence. It is one of the largest sources of IT talent in Europe, with over 400,000 specialists in the field.

“From Google’s perspective, Poland is a leader in Europe and one of the most attractive places for investment—investment in the future and in security. We truly appreciate that,” said the Prime Minister.

Poland is already investing in digitalization. The Digitalization Strategy for 2025-2035 aims to allocate 5% of Poland’s GDP to this sector. The latest investments include:

  • Kraków: The construction of Poland’s fastest AI supercomputer, with government support of PLN 140 million.
  • Poznań: The establishment of a new AI factory, with the government allocating PLN 200 million.
  • DeepTech Fund: A PLN 300 million fund to support advancements in cybersecurity, space technology, and artificial intelligence.

The Ministry of Development and Technology is also preparing the Enterprise Digital Transformation Program, which will address challenges businesses face in technology and cybersecurity.

Cooperation on Deregulation

During the visit, the Prime Minister and the CEO of Google and Alphabet also met with founders and representatives of Polish startups. They discussed deregulation efforts, which the Prime Minister has outlined as part of the “Poland. A Year of Breakthrough” economic plan aimed at supporting Polish entrepreneurs and the national economy.

“We also heard from our young interlocutors, startup founders, that they can contribute to deregulation. Google can also be part of this great, ambitious project—deregulation of the economy and the European and Polish administration,” said the Prime Minister.

On Friday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk will meet with representatives from academia and business. The discussions will focus, among other topics, on deregulation.
