Stockholm, 19 Feb 2025

On 11-12 February 2025, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) hosted a workshop of the Cross-agency One Health Task Force, focusing on stakeholder engagement for implementing the One Health approach in Europe.

The workshop brought together the five agencies of the Task Force – the ECDC, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the European Environmental Agency (EEA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Several agencies contributed by developing a shared stakeholder engagement methodology and providing expert facilitation.

The workshop allowed the Task Force to identify and prioritise key One Health stakeholders, including EU institutions, Member States, multilateral bodies and other essential partners for successful implementation of the One Health approach in the EU. It also supported the fourth strategic objective of the Cross-agency One Health task force framework for action (strengthening One Health communication and stakeholders’ engagement). At the end of the workshop, the agencies produced a preliminary draft of the Cross-agency One Health Engagement Plan for the for the Task Force’s mandate, which runs until the end of 2026.

The Cross-agency One Health Task Force began its operations in 2023, following a joint commitment expressed by the agencies at the ONE Conference in 2022. The vision of the task force is to enable EU agencies to successfully contribute to the implementation of the One Health approach in Europe.
