Brussels, 29 June 2023

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the creation of a joint venture by Contargo GmbH & Co. KG, Ziegler Holding GmbH (‘Ziegler’) and Schmid Group (‘Schmid’), via its subsidiary SFI GmbH, all of Germany.

The joint venture is a greenfield joint venture that will be active in container handling in Germany. Contargo provides services related to freight transport, as well as contract, transport and port logistics. Ziegler and Schmid are both active in the provision of services related to freight transport and transport logistics.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the joint venture’s limited activities within the European Economic Area and the companies’ limited combined market position resulting from the proposed transaction.

The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.11078.
