Brussels, 29 June 2023

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of Triton International Limited (‘Triton’) of Bermuda by Brookfield Corporation (‘Brookfield’) of Canada.

Triton is a company active in the acquisition, leasing, re-leasing and subsequent sale of intermodal containers and container chassis for seaborne transport. Brookfield is a global owner and operator of real assets across industries, including renewable energy and transition, infrastructure, private equity, real estate, credit, and insurance solutions.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the absence of overlaps between the companies’ activities. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.11142.
