The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of PT. Patimban International Car Terminal (‘PT. Patimban’) by Toyofuji Shipping Co., Ltd. (‘Toyofuji’), Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (‘NYK’), Kamigumi Co., Ltd (‘Kamigumi’) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (‘TTC’), all of Japan.

PT. Patimban operates and manages the automobile terminal operation business at the Patimban New International Port, in Indonesia. Toyofuji is a shipping company with activities in Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. NYK is active worldwide and operates a fleet of carriers, as well as container and cruise ships. Kamigumi provides logistics and transportation services, as well as onsite factory services, such as cargo loading and transportation. It is active in Asia, Mexico, Spain and the US. TTC is active in importing and exporting worlwide. PT. Patimban is currently a controlled subsidiary of TTC.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given that PT. Patimban does not have any activities within the European Economic Area. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
