Brussels, 1 August 2022

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of sole control of three subsidiaries of FCA Italy S.p.A. (‘Fiat’) in Czechia, Hungary and Slovakia by Emil Frey Group, of Switzerland. Fiat’s subsidiaries are active in the wholesale distribution of new vehicles, accessories and spare parts, as well as in aftersales support of the Fiat brands. Emil Frey Group is a company that is active worldwide in the wholesale distribution of passenger and commercial vehicles. After assessing the horizontal overlaps between the companies’ activities, the Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns. The transaction was examined under the normal merger review procedure. More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.10745.
