Brussels, 10 January 2023

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of Elton Mobility AS (‘Elton’) of Norway, by Schibsted Norge AS (‘Schibsted’) and Circle K AS (‘Circle K’) both of Norway.

Elton provides charging services for electric vehicles, primarily in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, but also in Finland. Schibsted is active in media services, marketplaces, start-ups and other investment ventures and financial services, primarily in the Nordic countries and in other countries of the European Economic Area. Circle K is a convenience and fuel retailer as well as an operator of electric vehicle charging stations, mainly active in the Nordic countries and Poland.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given its limited impact on the market. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.10903.
