Tomorrow, Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, will travel to Vilnius, Lithuania, to meet Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonyté and Minister for Justice, Ewelina Dobrowolska. Among other things, the discussions will focus on the measures taken against the war of aggression waged by Russia against Ukraine, such as sanctions enforcement, freezing and seizing of assets, accountability matters to fight impunity, as well as on the findings of the 2022 Rule of Law Reports as regards Lithuania and Latvia.

Following their meeting, Commissioner Reynders and Justice Minister Dobrowolska will hold a press conference at 10:30 CET. The Commissioner will then meet with President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania, Danutė Jočienė, and deliver a lecture to students at Vilnius University. Following the series of meetings in the Parliament, including with Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Viktorija Čmilytė–Nelsen, the Commissioner will conclude the day with a working dinner with representatives of academia and lawyers’ organisations.

On Friday, Commissioner Reynders will travel to Riga where he will meet with President Egils Levits and Minister of Justice, Inese Lībiņa-Egnere. He will then hold a meeting with the members of the Latvian Parliament’s European Affairs Committee, as well as civil society representatives and members of the Constitutional Court.
