On Thursday and Friday, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, will attend the EU-US Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial meeting in Brussels. Hosted by the Belgian Presidency, the meeting aims to reaffirm the strong transatlantic partnership, as well as the joint commitment to regular dialogue and close cooperation on Justice and Home Affairs matters.
During the meeting, discussions will focus on the fight against organised crime and drug trafficking, including on the importance of international law enforcement and judicial cooperation. The participants will also discuss the consequences of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the irregular migration and the fight against migrant smuggling. In the margins of the meeting, the discussions will also focus on countering terrorism and foreign influence with a focus on radicalisation, election interference and resilience. The incoming Hungarian Presidency of the Council is set present their priorities for the next six months.
