Brussels, 13 December 2024
The Commission has today published a call for evidence and a public consultation on the Public Procurement Directives. As announced in the President’s Political Guidelines, the Commission will propose a revision of the Public Procurement Directives. The revision will modernise public procurement rules, including taking into account EU startups and innovators, and will give preference to European products in public procurement for certain strategic sectors.
Interested parties are invited to express their views on the effectiveness with which the Directives have achieved their objectives, including promoting a high level of competition in the Single Market, increasing the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in procurement procedures, ensuring transparency and promoting a greener European economy, more social and innovative. These contributions will feed into the Commission’s evaluation of the Public Procurement Directives.
The evaluation will measure their performance and impact across the EU, whether they remain fit for purpose, whether they achieve their intended objectives at a lower cost and whether they are adequate to address current challenges.
All interested parties can contribute to the call for evidence and/or the public consultation until 7 March. The consultation will be available in all EU languages.
