The Commission published the ex-post evaluation of the Euro-Med FTAs with EU’s six Southern neighbours: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, and Tunisia. The evaluation’s main objective is to assess the effects of trade chapters of Euro-Med Association Agreements and propose recommendations for enhancing the Euro-Mediterranean partnership. The findings of the study conclude that the Euro-Med FTAs have broadly met their objectives by providing new opportunities for Euro-Med trade, contributing to the aims of the European Neighbourhood Policy and enhancing economic performance. The study’s recommendations support further reduction of non-tariff measures and expanding the FTAs coverage to make them more relevant for addressing current trade challenges with the view of fostering sustainable development and increased integration into global value chains.
