On Thursday 11, and Friday 12 May, Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, will be in the Netherlands to participate in the World Hydrogen Summit 2023 and attend several events related to innovative renewable hydrogen projects.
On Thursday, he will deliver a keynote speech on the EU’s leadership on global hydrogen developments at the Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam. In the afternoon, he will attend the launch of the Hydrogen Competence Centre, followed by a press point at +/-13:30. In this Competence Centre, companies and organisations can share knowledge, collaborate and accelerate the clean energy transition by boosting renewable hydrogen. Following the inauguration, the Executive Vice-President will discuss hydrogen innovation ecosystems with various stakeholders. He will also meet with Allard Castelein, President and CEO of the Rotterdam Port Authority and later in the city of Schiedam, he will visit the company Battolyser Systems and a prototype of electrolysers that can also store and supply power like batteries.
On Friday, Executive Vice-President Timmermans will deliver a keynote speech on the EU’s green transition at the 61st Dies Natalis of the University of Twente. He will also participate in the Dutch Innovation Days, discussing with researchers and students the University’s new climate centre and research projects onsite, notably on new materials for batteries and solar cells and on parking places that combine solar PV and battery storage into one integrated energy system.
