Next Tuesday and Wednesday, 2 and 3 May, Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans participates in the 14th Petersberg Climate Dialogue, an annual high-level political forum of over 40 ministers from around the world on climate action, co-hosted by the German government and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) COP28 Presidency. The Petersberg Dialogue will focus on preparations for the COP28 UN Climate Conference in Dubai and in particular on the Global Stock-take, Just Energy Transition and the Global Response to Climate Impacts.

On Tuesday, the Executive Vice-President Timmermans will speak during the Strategic Dialogue on the Global Stock-take and roadmap for global transformation and will participate in the Workshop on Renewables. On Wednesday, Timmermans will take part in a High-Level Dialogue on the Just Energy Transition with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, and COP28 President-Designate Sultan Al Jaber. Later, he will be a co-facilitator for a discussion session on financial flows to support climate resilience and adaptation.

In the margins of the event, he will meet with Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, COP28 President-Designate Sultan Al Jaber, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, and the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC Simon Stiell.
