Brussels, 20 December 2022

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the creation of a joint  venture by Remondis Recycling International GmbH (‘Remondis’) of Germany and H&M Hennes & Mauritz International AB (‘H&M’) of Sweden.

The joint venture intends to collect, sort and sell used and unwanted garments and textiles. Remondis is a service provider active in recycling, public and industrial services and water management. H&M is a service provider active in the design, purchasing, production, sales and marketing of consumer products.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the joint venture’s limited activities in the European Economic Area. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.10907.
