The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of sole control of Evonik Superabsorber GmbH of Germany and Evonik Superabsorber LLC of the US (‘the Evonik Superabsorber Companies’) by ICI Holding SE (‘ICIG’) of Germany.
The transaction relates primarily to the chemical markets of phenothiazine, acrylic acid and superabsorbent polymers used in the manufacture of hygiene articles and medical products.
The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given its limited impact on competition in the markets where the companies are active. The notified transaction was examined under the normal merger review procedure.
