MEPs of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group in the European Parliament have decided to take on Dutch MEP Dorien Rookmaker as a new Member. She is representing the ‘More Direct Democracy’ party (Meer Directe Democratie). “The EU should be an organisation of individual member states that work together to protect peace and prosperity. Mutual understanding and respect is a precondition. The ECR Group is the appropriate platform for this in the European Parliament”, Ms Rookmaker said.
With Ms Rookmaker’s arrival, the ECR Group has grown to 64 Members. Ms Rookmaker has worked in the rail, banking and insurance sectors, most recently in the position as Chief Risk Officer at a financial services provider, where she was responsible for the implementation of Basel regulations. She will join the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs.
“My aim is to work with my fellow ECR Group Members on more transparency, less rules and regulations, the accession of Western Balkan countries and high-speed rail connections between all major cities in Europe.”, Ms Rookmaker added.
