EFSA warns of Vibrio bacteria in seafood

The prevalence of Vibrio in seafood is expected to increase both globally and in Europe because of climate change, especially in low-salinity or brackish waters, according to EFSA’s latest assessment. Additionally, resistance to last-resort antibiotics is increasingly found in some Vibrio species.

EU General Court criticises insufficient public access to Covid-19 vaccines agreements

The EU General Court judged today that the EU Commission did not give the public sufficiently wide access to the purchase agreements for Covid-19 vaccines. That infringement concerns, inter alia, those agreements’ provisions on indemnification, and concerns the declarations that there was no conflict of interest on the part of the members of the team who negotiated the purchase of the vaccines. EFSA: Risk assessment of small organoarsenic species in food

EFSA has published a scientific opinion on the health risks of small organic arsenic species in food. This new assessment concluded that exposure to dimethylarsinic acid (DMA) compounds raises a health risk, unlike monomethylarsonic acid (MMA), which does not pose a health concern for any age group.
