Switzerland: Federal Council approves parameters for EU negotiating mandate
At its meeting on 21 June 2023, the Federal Council approved the parameters for a negotiating mandate with the EU. Discussions with the EU will continue on this basis, with a view to resolving any outstanding issues. If discussions with the EU and internal work continue to progress satisfactorily, the Federal Council will prepare for the adoption of a negotiating mandate by the end of the year.

Finland: Regulation on EU Digital COVID Certificate to expire
The Regulation on the EU Digital COVID Certificate will expire on 30 June 2023. In future, the Certificate will no longer be used jointly by the EU Member States. People can still get the EU Digital COVID Certificate from the MyKanta online service if they need one. At present, the Certificate is not, as a rule, required for travel purposes. Today, the Commission authorised three genetically modified maize and renewed the authorisation for four genetically modified crops, three soybeans and one cotton for food and animal feed. The Commission’s authorisation decisions do not allow for their cultivation in the EU, only for their use as food and animal feed.

Zambia: EU invests €110m to advance education, health and green energy
Today in Lusaka, Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, announced the resumption of budget support for Zambia and launched three programmes worth €110 million under Global Gateway.
