The Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) releases today its new report Beyond the Crisis: Consumer Protection and Market Measures for Better Functioning Markets. The report examines the measures implemented across Europe to address the challenges posed by the recent energy crisis and reflects on the lessons learned to create more consumer-centric energy markets.

In the report, CEER identifies seven critical issues that emerged and draws 14 recommendations to enhance consumer protection and engagement.  A series of case studies illustrate the diverse approaches taken by different countries, underscoring the importance of tailoring solutions to national contexts and specificities.

The report helps understand how the actions taken during the crisis may continue to be impactful for ensuring that all consumers are empowered to make informed decisions, manage their energy use effectively, and benefit from a stable and competitive energy market.
