Brussels, 20 November 2023

The people of Argentina voted in democratic, peaceful, orderly elections, which have taken place in the year the country celebrates 40 years of democracy.

The EU and Argentina have built a close, constructive and wide-ranging relationship over the past decades, based on common values.

The incoming government of Argentina, taking office under challenging economic circumstances, can count on the EU to further strengthen our partnership to deliver positive results for our societies, including by finalising negotiations as soon as possible on the EU-Mercosur Association Agreement.

Argentina is an important global player and the EU looks forward to working with the new administration to tackle global challenges.
