Australia and Germany sign an agreement on bilateral H2Global auctions

Australia and Germany have signed an important agreement today deepening their cooperation and jointly supporting new supply chains for renewable hydrogen and its derivatives. To this end, a H2Global financing window of €400 million (AU$ 660 million) will be established to match European demand and Australian production of renewable hydrogen in bilateral auctions.

The EU Commission and the Palestinian Authority have signed a Letter of Intent which sets out a strategy for addressing the critical budgetary and fiscal situation of the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian economy. United States: IMF Executive Board concludes 2024 Article IV consultation

The U.S. economy has turned in a strong performance over the past few years. Hysteresis effects from the pandemic did not materialize and both activity and employment now exceed pre-pandemic expectations. Real incomes were diminished by the unexpected rise in inflation in 2022 but have now risen above pre-pandemic levels. Job growth has been particularly fast with 16 million new jobs created since end-2020.

IEA: Global oil demand growth slowing due to economic headwinds

Global oil demand increased by 870 kb/d in 2Q24, with a contraction in China limiting gains. Demand is set to rise by less than 1 mb/d in both 2024 and 2025. This is largely unchanged from last month’s Report but far slower than last year’s 2.1 mb/d growth as comparatively lacklustre macroeconomic drivers come to the fore.

Wind Europe: EU wind power package to boost the European supply chain

The EU wants European wind farms to be built using turbines that are made in Europe. The Net Zero Industry Act requires 36 GW of wind energy manufacturing capacity in the EU by 2030. To achieve this, we must urgently strengthen the competitiveness of Europe’s wind industry or risk not being able to produce the volumes of wind turbines that Europe needs.
