Pesticide residues: MEPs vote down two EU Commission decisions

MEPs today rejected two EU Commission decisions allowing import tolerances (residue levels) for several pesticides coming with imported products such as cereals, seeds, meat, liver, and kidney, as well as with imported lemons, limes, mandarins, and okra. The use of these pesticides is already banned in the EU and should therefore not be allowed for imported goods.

Battery-electric vehicles from China: EU Commission imposes provisional countervailing duties

Nine months after the initiation of its anti-subsidy investigation, the EU Commission has imposed provisional countervailing duties on imports of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from China. Based on the investigation, the Commission has concluded that the BEV value chain in China benefits from unfair subsidisation, which is causing a threat of economic injury to EU BEV producers.

The EU Commission has informed Meta of its preliminary findings that its “pay or consent” advertising model fails to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) witnessed thick dark smoke coming from the north-western area of the plant, after hearing multiple explosions.
