Ministers will continue their work towards a General Approach on the Commission's proposals to reform the EU electricity market. This reform aims to make electricity prices less dependent on volatile fossil fuel prices and to shield consumers from price spikes by accelerating a surge in renewables.

EU Commissioner Hoekstra travels to Brazil for COP28 preparations
Brazil , BrazilTomorrow, Commissioner for Climate Action, Wopke Hoekstra, starts a two-day visit to Brazil to continue with preparations for the forthcoming COP28 UN Climate Change conference. Following the adoption of the EU's negotiating mandate to COP28 in the Environment Council on 16 October, Commissioner Hoekstra will engage with Brazil on the need for high ambition at COP28, as well as looking towards Brazil's upcoming G20 Presidency.
