The aim of the workshop is to present and discuss the results of the last HPLC phytoplankton pigment analysis (HIP-7) and to plan future intercomparison activities. The event is the opportunity to create and expand a network of researchers whose activities focus on marine pigments analysis to support satellite data and bio-optical algorithm validation.

Description
Since 2009, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) has regularly organised intercomparison exercises on HPLC Phytoplankton Pigments (HIP) analysis to support the validation of satellite data products.
The HIP-5, HIP-6 and HIP-7 intercomparisons were launched with the general objective of supporting the validation of marine phytoplankton data products from Copernicus Sentinel-3 missions.
The intercomparisons will specifically focus on the determination of Total Chlorophyll a and other relevant phytoplankton pigments in natural waters.
Cost and Registration
Participation in the 4th HIP Workshop is limited to 30 participants.
Priority will be given to laboratories that participated in previous HIP exercises or equivalent round-robins.
The JRC will provide practical assistance in booking reasonably priced accommodation in the local area and will arrange free local shuttle transportation (including transport to/from airport)
