Spanish EU Presidency: European policy conference on video games and virtual environments

Within the framework of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Subdirectorate General for the Promotion of Cultural Industries is organising the European policy conference on video games and virtual environments, in coordination with the agenda of the European Commission and as part of the actions undertaken to promote the Spain Audiovisual Hub (financed with Next Generation EU funds), which will be held at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 12 and 13 July 2023.

This is an international meeting for the exchange of ideas, the presentation of projects and good practices, training and the creation of professional networks in the video game and virtual worlds sector.

In this regard, it should be noted that since this year the European Commission has led a series of workshops, organised by the Ecorys Europe consortium, under the title Understanding the value of a European Video Games Society, the conclusions and report of which will be presented at this conference. Likewise, on 10 November, the European Parliament approved a resolution on e-sports and video games, addressed to the European Commission and the Member States, in which it encourages the formulation of a common strategy on the challenges and opportunities of the industry.
