The meeting will bring together EU ministers responsible for Cohesion Policy, EU institutions and representatives of the EU, as well as ministers of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries.
The meeting will provide the opportunity for an exchange of views on two main themes, on the “Right to Stay” and on the specific challenges faced by island regions.
Agenda Highlights
On the afternoon of 4 June 2026, delegates will have the opportunity to visit a Cohesion Policy co-funded project at the old city of Lefkosia, followed by an official dinner.
The main proceedings will take place on 5 June in Lefkosia and will include discussions on the two thematic sessions. First, ministers will reflect on the role of Cohesion Policy in providing the necessary incentives, growth prospects and employment opportunities, enabling European citizens to stay, prosper and build a future in their place of origin. Second, ministers will exchange views on the specific challenges faced by island regions, in light of the forthcoming EU Strategy for islands.
