G7 Ministers’ Meeting on Inclusion and Disability

The G7 Inclusion and Disability, promoted by Italy for the first time at ministerial level, will take place on 14-15-16 October 2024 in Umbria. This will be an opportunity to share with the G7 and outreach authorities dealing with disability strategies and commitments to guarantee everyone the right to full participation in civil, social, and political life in all countries.

The event – concrete, inclusive, and participatory – shall consist of a three-day path.

The afternoon of 14 October will be dedicated to welcoming the delegations in Assisi, in the lower square of St. Francis in front of the Basilica of the same name. Citizens and associations of persons with disabilities will be able to participate and volunteers from various realities will be involved. Inclusive bands will introduce the arrival of the Heads of Delegation. Inclusive projects will be presented through the setting up of several stands managed by third sector entities.

On 15 October the preparatory day will take place at the Castle of Solfagnano, providing for the participation, besides the ministerial delegations, of representatives of the Italian and international associative world, who will take the floor, in different panels, on the themes of the G7. Reception, catering, and other services will be ensured with the involvement of numerous associations and social cooperatives that deal with work inclusion.

The 16th of October will be dedicated to the Ministerial Meeting, with the participation of the Ministers of the G7+EU and the outreach countries (the invitation has been extended to the competent Ministers of Chile, Kenya, Tunisia, South Africa and Vietnam). At the end the “photo family” and a joint press conference will take place.

The priorities will be: 1. Inclusion as a priority theme of all political agendas; 2. Universal accessibility; 3. Autonomous and independent life; 4. Enhancement of talents and work inclusion; 5. Promotion of new technologies; 6. Sports and recreational dimension of life; 7. Dignity of life and dimension of services; 8. Prevention and management of emergency and post-emergency situations, in particular those related to climate crises.
