DELEGATIONS
INTA delegation to San Francisco, United States

A delegation from the International Trade Committee will travel to San Francisco and the Bay Area to gather information on the impact of trade limitations in strategic sectors like semi-conductors, the automotive industry and critical infrastructure. MEPs will meet representatives from high-tech and semiconductors businesses and trade unions, and will visit an automotive manufacturing’ site.

FISC delegation to Washington DC, United States

Members of the FISC Subcommittee will travel to Washington D.C. from 30 October to 1 November 2023. The delegation, led by the Chair Paul Tang, will meet with representatives of key institutions, such as the US Treasury Department, the Internal Revenue Service, the Congress, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, as well as with stakeholders from the private sector, civil society, experts, and journalists.

SANT delegation to the United States

Six members of the Subcommittee for Public Health (SANT) will travel to Washington DC, United States, between 30 October and 1 November. They will meet with representatives from the Department of Health and Human Services, the Food and Drug Administration, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Pan-American Health Organization. The discussions are expected to focus on various topics of interest to SANT members, including non-communicable diseases, mental health, shortage of medicines and global cooperation in the field of health.

IMCO delegation to Washington DC, United States

A delegation of MEPs from the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) will go to Washington DC to gain first-hand knowledge of digital and consumer protection initiatives in the US. They will hear about how the EU’s new legislation in those fields is perceived across the Atlantic and assess possibilities for cooperation and alignment. Members will meet with Congress representatives, federal government officials, trade associations, think tanks and NGOs

LIBE delegation to Lisbon, Portugal

MEPs Isabel Santos (S&D, Portugal) and Ramona Strugariu (Renew, Romania) will visit the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) in Lisbon to investigate how the agency is adapting to its new mandate as the EU Drugs Agency, due to enter into force in 2024.

PETI delegation to Donegal, Ireland

A group of eight MEPs headed by Petitions Committee Chair Dolors Montserrat (EPP, Spain) will travel to Donegal, Ireland to investigate the impact of defective mica blocks in construction.

AFCO delegation to Washington, United States and Ottawa, Canada

MEPs will visit Washington DC and Ottawa from 30 October to 3 November to discuss constitutional and institutional matters with government and justice officials. In the USA, MEPs will meet legislators and government officials, representatives of the federal judiciary and the Supreme Court, and civil society representatives. In Canada, their agenda includes exchanges with parliamentarians, commissioners and civil society. The delegation will discuss the current jurisprudential tendency towards devolution of powers to the state level in the USA and learn about the transparency of the legislative process in Canada.
