AFET delegation to Malawi and Zambia

A delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee will travel to Lilongwe in Malawi and Lusaka in Zambia. The main goal of the mission is the strengthening of bilateral and EU-Africa partnerships. MEPs will meet with government and parliament officials as well as with representatives of civil society to discuss global and regional security issues.

SEDE delegation to India

A delegation from the Security and defence Subcommittee will be in India from 17 to 21 December to discuss common security challenges and cooperation in the strategically important Indo-Pacific region. MEPs will meet, among several, India’s External Affairs Minister, Lok Sabha (India’s Parliament lower chamber) Speaker, Secretary of Defence, as well as members of the Lok Sabha’s Defence Committee.

INTA delegation to Bangkok, Thailand

A delegation of seven MEPs from the International Trade Committee, led by the Chair, Bernd Lange, travels to Bangkok, Thailand between 17 and 21 December. The visit comes as the EU and Thailand has recently relaunched negotiations on a free trade agreement, which had stalled in 2014. MEPs will meet with Thai authorities and representatives of European and Thai businesses in an effort to closely monitor developments on the ground as trade talks are progressing.

PETI delegation to Catalonia, Spain

From 18 to 20 December 2023, eleven MEPs will travel to Barcelona, Spain, to engage with residents and representatives of the regional authorities, with the aim of assessing the language immersion model in Catalonia.

This Fact-Finding Visit (FFV) is organised in order to follow-up on the several petitions debated by the Committee on Petitions on the language immersion model in Catalonia. The aim of the visit is to inspect in situ its impact on families moving to and residing in the region, as well as on multilingualism and non-discrimination in compliance with the principle of the Rule of Law, and to meet with the petitioners and the regional authorities. More details
