EU Commissioner Ivanova in London and Edinburgh to launch UK association to Horizon Europe

The Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Iliana Ivanova, is travelling to the United Kingdom to celebrate the country’s association to Horizon Europe, the EU research and innovation programme.

This afternoon in London, Commissioner Ivanova will meet with the Secretary of State for Science Innovation and Technology, Michelle Donelan. Together, they will open an event on Horizon Europe association at the Royal Society, followed by a joint press conference scheduled for 15:30-16:00 CET.

Earlier today, the Commissioner has visited the Francis Crick Institute, a leading biomedical research centre with strong participation in Horizon Europe. Her visit was hosted by Sir Paul Nurse, Nobel Prize laureate and CEO of the institute, and she was accompanied by the Minister for AI and Entrepreneurship, Viscount Camrose, on behalf of the UK government.

Tomorrow, 13 February, the Commissioner will visit Edinburgh, where she will meet with the Scottish Minister for Higher and Further Education, Graeme Dey. She will then visit the University of Edinburgh, where she will meet with senior representatives of major universities across Scotland. She will also meet with students and visit the Bayes Centre, the University of Edinburgh’s Innovation Hub for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
