EFSA’s Panel on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) is ready to consult with stakeholders and interested parties on its draft scientific opinion on protein safety assessment in GMOs.
The event follows a first webinar on protein safety assessment in GMOs held in December 2023, where EFSA’s self-task mandate was presented. It also aimed to provide a better understanding of the complex scientific context, identify challenges, reflect on current methodologies, and look for future opportunities in the field.
This second webinar aims at presenting the draft scientific opinion, introducing the driving elements and the key chapters of the draft document, which will be under public consultation from mid-January to mid-March 2025.
In line with EFSA’s commitment to transparency and engagement with its stakeholders, and as part of the ongoing dialogue with interested parties as part of this mandate, the webinar aims at providing a clear understanding of the key components of and rationale behind the scientific opinion. It is also an occasion for stakeholders to clarify any doubts regarding the public consultation phase.
The meeting is intended for all interested stakeholders with expertise in the area of protein safety assessment who have already participated in previous engagement opportunities around this mandate and/or have an interest in the draft output on protein safety assessment in GMOs.
