Online event, Belgium

Involving civil society representatives better in the implementation of the EU Territorial Agenda is crucial to guarantee its participatory and inclusive governance, taking into account the requirements and perspectives of the various regional actors and helping to improve the quality of life in the various European regions. While civil society therefore has a key role to play in the implementation of the Territorial Agenda 2030, its involvement is not yet sufficiently appreciated despite various initiatives undertaken to improve the situation. At a hearing that the EESC organised in Naples on 3 October, social and economic partners testified how difficult it was for them to become actively involved in implementation processes.

Against this background the EESC will organise a public debate on 6 November with the title ”Future perspectives for the Territorial Agenda 2030 and its link with civil society”. This hearing will take place at a meeting of the EESC Section for Economic and Monetary Union and Economic and Social Cohesion at which the opinion ”Revision of the Territorial Agenda 2030” will be discussed and adopted.

The hearing will take place from 10.00 to 11:30. The debate can be accessed via webstream. No registration is needed.
