Background

With the proposal for an Artificial Intelligence Act, EU lawmakers intend to establish a world-first rulebook for the deployment of artificial intelligence applications, establishing a common definition for AI, prohibiting the deployment of certain practises and establishing ground rules for others based on their risk levels.

On Thursday 11 May from 9.00 CEST, MEPs of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) and Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) committees will vote on their negotiating position on the Artificial Intelligence Act, due to be confirmed by the full house of the European Parliament before summer.
