Agenda highlights

The main theme of the tripartite social summit will be ‘An economically and socially strong Europe to play its role in the world’.

Participants will discuss the following three topics:

  • an industrial strategy complementing the green deal with quality jobs at its heart
  • a single market that delivers for enterprises and workers
  • tackling skills and labour shortages

The summit – which will start at 15.00 – will be followed by a press conference which is due to start at around 17.15.

Background

What is the Tripartite Social Summit?

The Tripartite Social Summit is a forum for dialogue between the EU institutions at president level and the European social partners at top management level. The summit is co-chaired by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission.

The participating European-level social partners include:

  • BusinessEurope
  • the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC)
  • SGI Europe (association of enterprises with services of general interest)
  • SMEunited (association of crafts and SMEs in Europe)
  • CEC European Managers

For the rotating presidency, the Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexander De Croo, will attend. Employment ministers from Belgium and the upcoming presidency countries (Hungary and Poland) will also take part in the meeting.
