The informal meeting of competitiveness ministers will take place on 6–8 February and will be led by Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba Busch, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell and Minister for Education Mats Persson.
On the first two days, ministers responsible for the EU single market and industry policy will meet. Ministers responsible for research will convene on the third day.
On the first day, Ms Busch, Mr Forssell and the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise will welcome participants to a business fair at Scandinavian XPO, where innovative Swedish businesses leading the green transition will be presented.
On 7 February, the second day, participants will discuss how the EU can achieve the long-term objectives regarding enhanced competitiveness through a strengthened single market and the green transition. At the plenary meeting, the ministers will discuss how short-term measures that for example are taken due to the energy crisis can strengthen EU competitiveness in the long-term.
On the third and final day, 8 February, Minister for Education Mats Persson and his ministerial colleagues will hold a policy debate on how to strengthen and develop the use of research data from research infrastructures to be better able to meet various societal challenges and strengthen competitiveness. The ministers will also hold a policy debate on open access to scientific publications and how the scientific publication system will develop and be affected by digitalisation.
