An informal ministerial meeting on energy will take place in Valladolid from 11 to 12 July 2023.
The informal ministerial Council will discuss the challenges of achieving an integrated and digitised internal energy market, looking at interconnections, demand-side management and storage.
Electricity market reform will ensure stable and competitive prices for consumers, strengthen the penetration of renewables and provide effective signals to respond to stress situations. Technological development and the effect of reform on our productive fabric will be considered, favouring the availability of existing technologies and strengthening emerging ones such as storage. Energy dependence on third countries will be reduced.
The ministers will address the development of electricity interconnections and will push for the adoption of the sixth list of Energy Projects of Common Interest.
The informal ministerial Council will also discuss the legislative proposals on energy contained in the Fit for 55 Package relating to the promotion of energy from renewable sources, energy efficiency and the establishment of a coherent legislative framework to enable the development of a competitive market for hydrogen and renewable gases.
