Platform work and asbestos

The presidency aims to reach a general approach (a common position of member states) on two proposed directives:

  • on improving working conditions in platform work
  • on the protection of workers from the risks related to the exposure to asbestos

A European care strategy

Care will be another important topic of the Council meeting. Ministers will discuss the European Care Strategy and plan to adopt recommendations on affordable high-quality long-term care and on early childhood education and care.

European Semester 2023

In their second policy debate ministers will focus on the European Semester 2023. The Council also plans to endorse key messages by the Employment Committee concerning the implementation of the recommendation on the integration of the long-term unemployed in the labour market. The European Semester is an instrument of economic, fiscal, labour and social policy coordination at both EU and member state level.

Equality and social inclusion

Equality and social inclusion does also feature on the agenda as ministers plan to approve conclusions on gender equality in disrupted economies and on the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the labour market.
