Agenda of the EU Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council, 13-14 May 2024

Ministers from EU member states responsible for education, youth, culture and sport will meet in Brussels to discuss a range of topics, including:

On Monday 13 May, ministers for youth will seek to approve conclusions on inclusive societies for young people, European and international policy agendas for children, youth and children’s rights, and the legacy of the European Year of Youth 2022. They will also hold a policy debate on the follow-up of the outcomes of the EU Youth Conference in Ghent.

In the afternoon, education ministers are expected to adopt a Council recommendation on learning mobility opportunities for everyone. They will also hold a policy debate on artificial intelligence in education and training and will aim to approve conclusions on promoting evidence-informed policy and practice.

Proposal for a Council Recommendation: ‘Europe on the Move’ – learning mobility opportunities for everyone

On the morning of Tuesday 14 May, the Council will turn its attention to culture and audiovisual issues, with ministers seeking to approve conclusions on the rise of influencers as a part of the EU’s media ecosystem, as well as on ways to empower the cultural and creative sectors through data-driven audience development. They will also hold a policy debate on future-proofing the cultural and creative sectors in the age of artificial intelligence.

Later that day, sport ministers are expected to approve a resolution on the EU’s Work Plan for Sport, and conclusions on the contribution of self-organised sport to supporting active and healthy lifestyles, and will hold a policy debate on the role of volunteers in European sport.
