France has taken note of the ruling issued by the International Court of Justice on January 31 in Ukraine’s case against the Russian Federation concerning to the application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism.
Once again, the Court found that Russia had violated its international obligations.
France notes that the Court found that Russia had violated its obligations under these Conventions. Specifically, Russia failed to meet certain obligations under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination due to its actions in Crimea.
It also noted that Russia had failed to abide by the provisional measures ordered by the Court in this case, which are legally binding upon both parties.
France emphasizes that the ICJ’s rulings are final and binding upon the parties, and they must be implemented.
France reaffirms its support for the Court, the UN’s principal judicial body, which is one of the founding pillars of a rules-based international order.
