MEPs from the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Development and the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan will discuss the situation in the country with the EEAS and the European Commission on 1 September.

This follows the extraordinary meeting which took place on 19 August 2021 with Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative/Vice President of the European Commission, where MEPs expressed their concern with developments in Afghanistan and called for urgent action to address the pressing needs on the ground as well as highlighting the implications for international migration.
The meeting on 1 September will focus on the political and security situation in Afghanistan, including the humanitarian dimension and the regional stability.
