On 10 and 11 June, Commissioner for Climate Action, Wopke Hoekstra, will be in Sweden to meet with national representatives and stakeholders including industrial, forestry and social partners and youth representatives.
On Monday, Commissioner Hoekstra will meet the President and Chief Executive Officer of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) Group and the former Swedish Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Magdalena Andersson. He will also visit the Tallbacka school in the municipality of Solna to talk about the importance of climate action with young students. The Commissioner will later visit the facilities of the Skanska construction company in the Slaughterhouse industrial area for a discussion on the decarbonisation of the construction sector.
On Tuesday, Commissioner Hoekstra will meet the Swedish Minister for Finance, Elisabeth Svantesson. He will also hold an exchange of views with members of the Environment and Agriculture, EU Affairs, and Finance Committees of the Swedish Parliament, followed by a meeting with representatives of the Swedish Climate Science Board and several business and trade unions, to discuss industrial decarbonisation, competitiveness and a fair transition.
In the afternoon, the Commissioner will discuss with the Swedish Minister for Climate and Environment, Romina Pourmokhtari. Together, they will visit the Holmen Forest in the town of Länna and discuss with forestry sector stakeholders during a roundtable.
