From 28 to 30 October, a Security and Defence Subcommittee delegation will be in London for talks on how to strengthen EU-UK cooperation in the security and defence field.
While in London, MEPs are set explore further strengthening of EU-UK defence ties following Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. In their meetings with their British counterparts and interest representatives, the delegation will also examine other avenues for EU-UK cooperation, including in areas such as defence capability development and measures to strengthen the industrial and technological base of the defence sector, the exchange of intelligence and information and the equipping and training of the Ukrainian armed forces.
MEPs will meet with Lord Vernon Coaker, Minister of State for Defence, representatives of EU industry and UK parliamentarians.
The delegation is led by the Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman (Renew Europe, Germany). It will also consist of the following MEPs: Nicolás Pascual de la Parte (EPP, Spain), Michał Szczerba (EPP, Poland), Tonino Picula (S&D, Croatia), Tobias Cremer (S&D, Germany), Reinis Pozņaks (ECR, Latvia) and Alberico Gambino (ECR, Italy).
