Brussels, 1 June 2023

Yesterday, Denmark submitted a request to the Commission to add a REPowerEU chapter to its recovery and resilience plan.

The chapter covers measures related to renewable energy, developing green skills, replacing oil burners and gas furnaces and carbon capture and storage. It includes one new reform and one new investment to deliver on the REPowerEU objectives. Two existing investments are also being scaled up.

Denmark has requested to transfer part of its share of the Brexit Adjustment Reserve, amounting to €66 million, to its recovery and resilience plan. Together with Denmark’s REPowerEU grants allocation (€131 million), these funds make the total EU contribution to Denmark´s Recovery and Resilience Plan worth €1.63 billion.

The Commission has now up to two months to assess whether the modified plan still fulfils the assessment criteria in the RRF Regulation. If the Commission’s assessment is positive, it will make a proposal for an amended Council Implementing Decision to reflect the changes to the Danish plan. Member States will then have up to four weeks to endorse the Commission’s assessment.
